Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan looks around a room inside the former Tyson Mexican Original plant at Huntsville and Happy Hollow roads Monday afternoon. The city is considering selling the building and a portion of the surrounding property. Offers have been submitted by Kum & Go and Casey’s General Store, both of who would like to build a new gas station on the property.
Fayetteville public relations firm Mitchell Communications Group, which employs 75 full-time workers, has been sold to Tokyo-based Dentsu Network, it was announced last week. A crew with Tulsa-based Ark Wrecking Co. is working this week to demolish a long vacant car lot and showroom at the southwest corner of College Avenue and Township Street in #Fayetteville. The site will soon be home to a 6,000-square-foot Arvest Bank location as a replacement for a smaller nearby branch on College Avenue.
The city has commissioned #Fayetteville artist Jason Jones to paint murals on several of the metal utility boxes that stand as eyesores among the natural living landscape on the downtown square. Jones said he plans to design murals that will cover up the boxes, but won’t take away from the beauty of the garden once it’s in full bloom. (at Fayetteville Town Square)
#Fayetteville Farmers’ Market officials today announced a new winter market that will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting Dec. 15 and running through March inside a large tent at the south end of the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks property.
